Ramon Castro Mets Swinging 11x14 Photo
Ramon Castro was the first-ever player from Puerto Rico to be selected in the first round of a Major League Baseball draft. The Houston Astros picked the talented catcher in 1994 but he was traded to the Marlins in 1998 and ironically ended up making his Major League debut in 1999 in a game against Houston. Castro joined the Mets in 2005 and provided a steady veteran presence as the backup catcher initially to Mike Piazza and then to Paul Lo Duca. Most recently Castro caught Mark Buerhles perfect game for the White Sox in 2009. Ramon Castro has hand signed this MLB baseball. A Steiner Sports Certificate of Authenticity is included.
